Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Bukola James. I help people build their self-esteem through the way they look. Am married, I was born on the 13th of November 1990. I am from Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.
What informed the idea of Rihan Bellz?
The idea of Rihan Bellz came from my Muslim name (Rihannat) and my father’s surname (Bello). Rihan came out of Rihannat and Bellz came out of Bello.
How long have you been designing clothes?
I have been designing clothes for about 3 years now.
Who are your customers?
My customers are male and female from ages 0-50.
Do you design wedding dresses for brides or you design for brides and grooms?
I don't design for grooms, but designing wedding dress and bridal train dress is my favorite. I never get tired doing this, because I get to fully express the creative part of me by helping the bride and train look more glamorous than their imagination.
What are the challenges you experience as a designer in Nigeria?
There are so many challenges, but the major one for me is finding a platform with the right audience to showcase my work.
Any word of advice for interested designers or upcoming designers?
Anything you find your hand or yourself doing, put your best in it. In addition, consistency is the key. If you are not passionate, you are wasting your time.
